Yesterday’s act of voting proved to be a fruitful endeavor. Free Starbuck’s coffee, free Chick-fil-a and free Krispy Kreme rounded out the election day goodie bag. I hear Ben and Jerry’s was giving away free scoops of ice cream but I don’t think we have one in our area. All in all those “I’m a Georgia voter” stickers proved valuable. Lucy is wearing mine today probably in hopes she can score more free stuff.
After all is said and done one has to admit that the whole election thing is a fascinating process. Last night lacked the drama of the last two elections mainly because the winner was clear fairly early in the evening. But it is still pretty cool to sit there and watch the results come in. I’m thankful to live in a country where I get to be a part of it.
In the end I think this country chose the man they wanted to be the next president. One can’t help but be reminded of I Samuel 8 when the people demanded a king like the other nations. God gave them what they asked for. Now, just like David, it is our responsibility to honor President Obama and pray for him.
